About

The Reactor Lab provides simulations of a variety of chemical reactors. The Lab is useful in teaching Chemical Reaction Engineering. Students can actively learn about chemical reactions and reactors by performing experiments and analyzing data – quickly, safely, and inexpensively.

Our current focus is development of Web Labs. See Web Labs in the menu bar above. Course notes are at the Resources menu tab.

The Lab has been developed by Richard K. Herz and his students at the University of California, San Diego, since 1993. See reports at bottom of the Desktop Lab page for the history and design philosophy of the Lab.

Web Labs, the desktop Reactor Lab and SimzLab software are open-source, cross-platform projects. SimzLab contains PureWaterLab. View our open-source projects at our GitHub site (opens in new tab).

Support for development of the Lab has been received from the U.S. National Science Foundation and the UCSD Academic Senate.

We are interested in hearing your comments, suggestions, or a quick “We are using the Lab.” Please email us at support@reactorlab.net
